Segway Racing MotoCzysz Takes 2nd in USGP ePower Race
2011-09-06Defending champions, Team Segway Racing MotoCzysz returned to Laguna Seca for the U.S. ePower race, part of the Red Bull US Grand Prix with their all new 2011 E1pc. The preceding month saw Team Segway Racing MotoCzysz take a stunning double podium finish with 1st and 2nd places during the IOM TT and the team was eager to return to Laguna to defend their title and see how much the new bike improved over last year’s.
The 100% new Motoczysz E1pc, with an updated Remy motor and Dow Kokam batteries, all new carbon fiber frame and radical front suspension was fast. The '011 motorcycle was more than 6 seconds a lap faster then the previous '010 version and was capable of much more.
With only one test prior to the race Michael Czysz showed how strong the new MotoCzysz was right out of the box. "We had a problem with the new front end at IOM and before Laguna I was not sure we had solved it 100%, it took me the length of the race before I was confident but in the end, problem solved, it was perfect.” Additionally Czysz said, "I unfortunately rode more like the bikes owner/creator with too much concern for the bike and not enough like a racer. I did not have the pace for Rapp... but the bike did."
