Not another chopper show!

Discovery Channel airs Birth of a Racer, a MotoCzysz Documentary

For the last two years, Michael Czysz and the MotoCzysz team have been followed and filmed by a production crew from the Discovery Channel. The two hour documentary, Birth of a Racer, is the first HD documentary to be released by Discovery world wide and will be available to over 600 million viewers. The film shows the accomplishments and failures experienced by the MotoCzysz team while trying to bring an American designed and built machine back to the forefront of international road racing.

The process of fabricating American motorcycles is well known to the reality television audience who have watched Orange County Choppers, Build or Bust, or Southern Steel. While each build seems to stretch the ability of the shop, the men, and the clock – these bikes are not exactly new technology or forward thinking exercises, they have however created some interesting motorcycles and great TV moments.  In contrast, the MotoCzysz documentary (with arguably fewer great TV moments) will quickly show the viewers the true effort it takes to conceive, design, engineer and build a clean sheet motorcycle and more importantly a clean sheet engine. The C1 also has a unique frame, industry first suspension, state of the art comprehensive electronics, and over 1,000 custom parts that cannot be purchased out of a catalog.

The documentary will begin airing this week with the date for the United States yet to be determined.

  11. Ron Leonard says:

THANK YOU! I really enjoyed the US premier of the show at the Bagdad Theater last night. Your team is an inspiring bunch. I greatly appreciate a new perspective on the tried and true. That “what if” sort of mentality to look further and find an alternative solution, if not a potentially better one.

Although I’m a relative newbie to the sport, I also appreciate your efforts to encourage and support the community and regional racing efforts here in the Pacific Northwest. Although the team is very international, the efforts to acknowledge and support the community you work in is fantastic.

Please let us know how we all did raising funds for air fences at the Portland International Raceway (http://www.portlandraceway.com/) through the donations to the Roadracing World Action Fund (http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com/)

With utmost respect and best wishes for a couple of smooth spots in the road along the way.

I was fortunate to be in the Portland area this weekend & went to the Premier showing of Birth of a Racer. Incredible!! My hat is off to Michael, his dad & the rest of the team for chasing their dream. Though it makes me feel insignificant in some ways watching what they have done, I am also very thankful. They epitomize the “Can Do” attitude that is so encouraging and inspiring not to mention their discoveries will one day benefit all of us in the motorcycling community. Prayers for continued success in both your business & families.

  17. Harm-Jan says:

Finally I saw your documentary on Discovery Channel Europe. Remarkable machine.
As you said Michael at the end of the doucumentary on the test track” We will be here again in two years or it will be the end of the story in two years”. Luckeliy your still here! Keep up the good work and make a GP machine that will blast the competition away. You have the potential.

    Good luck for the future.

  18. Monstrobolaxa says:

Fantastic documentary…just watched and it’s basically my dream come true but in the motorcycle arena!
I also have a similar dream but with Le Mans and cars…though I’m working in the pinacle of motorsport at the moment, I’ll be setting up my own team and CFD firm in the next year or so…so who knows…next time it could be me on Discovery! ;)

  19. Greg says:

Hello. I have read some articles online and the C1 seems incredible. I have also enjoyed cruising through various patents online. I live in San Antonio, TX USA. I contacted Discovery Channel about purchasing a copy of “Birth of a Racer” and was told it was not available. I would love to purchase a copy direct from MotoCzysz or Discovery Channel because I have not seen the documentary yet and I have no idea when it is going to air. Thanks. -Greg

  20. Greg says:

I just found the documentary on BitTorrent (900MB 4:3 xvid avi). It is in English with foreign subtitles. I searched for Czysz on torrentz.com to get the torrent link. VLC plays it just fine.

  21. Rick says:

Just saw the film last night on HD theatre and I must say . . . wow.

Dreams are fleeting and difficult to catch. To never chase one is a tragedy and to never achieve your dream is sorrowful, but when you do make your dream a reality . . . well, that is heaven on earth.

I can only hope that your team can achieve this dream. It was sad to see some of the team leave after the setbacks. Never give up, never admit defeat. I will always be pulling for you guys.

Even though I am not a bike enthusiast, I hope to hear of your bike taking the checkered flag someday.

    Good luck!

I Love You. I really do. I would even buy you flowers and dinner for what you have shared with us! Thanks to you I now have a working blog. While following your steps, I found that instead of having “me” as a group it had the following: 166839 166839The proper files were still web web. I thought it was strange, and even after changing the group as your instructions said, there was no change in how this displayed in both putty and filezilla. However, I tested uploading to my blog and it worked like a charm! I am not sure what is going on with the group thing, but somehow it must have worked. I’m curious as to what the deal is with that. In any case, Thank you so much!
